Perhaps one of the greatest fears of any mother is that her child will get infested with head lice. And the chances for this to happen are very high. Lice infestation is a real danger for any pupil, because these little insects are spreading very easily, and their favorite place to live is on human heads. But, in this article I will tell you how my kids got rid of head lice and nits with natural remedies, because they are allergic to those pharmaceutical treatments.
Lavender essential oil: apply it directly on hair roots and all over its length, and don’t forget to use gloves. Massage the scalp with this oil and let it act for 3 hours. Wash the hair as usual. Repeat this procedure 2 days in a row.
Important! The lavender oil should be 100% pure to take effect!
Apple vinegar: I can surely tell you that this is the best remedy to get rid of lice and nits. The substances found in apple vinegar are very effective in killing lice and their eggs, and keeping them away from your children’s head. So, after bathing your child, prepare a solution made of 2 parts hot water and 1 part apple cider vinegar. The water should be bearable when you pour it on your kids head. Don’t rinse the hair after applying this solution, just let it dry naturally to take effect.
Mayonnaise: This treatment, just like the others can be used by adults without any problem. Apply a few cups of mayonnaise to your hair and roots until you’ve covered your head (don’t wash your head before). Being very thick and oily, mayonnaise will asphyxiate the lice in just a few minutes. For this treatment to be more effective, it is good to cover your head with a shower cap and let it act for 8 hours at least. It’s indicated to apply this treatment and go to bed.
The next day wash your hair with warm water and use a lice comb to remove the nits and insects. Repeat this treatment after 7 days.
Olive oil: Heat up a generous amount of olive oil. As soon as it has reached the maximum temperature that you can withstand, apply it on your head by massaging the scalp. Put on a shower cap and let it act overnight. The next morning wash your hair with warm water and use a lice comb to remove all the parasites.
