Earache is very annoying and painful and it can have many causes: infection, fluid in the middle ear, colds, wax blockage, change in atmospheric pressure or hurting your era. Sometimes pain goes away by itself, but often it requires treatment. It can be acute and sharp or very vague, but equally unpleasant.
For people who know they have plenty of wax it’s advisable to use special products to dissolve the secretions being one of the main causes of earache. But first, you should ask a doctor’s opinion.
If the pain occurs from other causes, fortunately, you have in your house a lot of effective remedies for your earache.
1.Olive oil
Has anti-inflammatory effect, so it’s one of the best remedy for earache, because it heals even if there is any infection. However, olive oil is good to stop that sharp sound that occurs when the ear is sick. Simply put 3-4 drops of warm oil in the ear canal. Alternatively, you can soak a cotton ball and put it in your ear.
2. Onions
It’s one of the most used anti-inflammatory natural treatments because it has antibacterial and antiseptic properties. To benefit of onions healing effects use onion juice (grate an onion or put it in the juicer). Put the juice in a kettle or a small pot on low heat, until is heated. It has to be warm not hot. Then pour 2-3 drops in the affected ear every day, morning and evening. You’ll see that soon the pain will diminish. Optionally, you can crush an onion and put it in gauze and keep the compress over the painful ear between 5-10 minutes. Repeat several times a day to feel an improvement.
3. Ginger
This anti-inflammatory ingredient can get you rid of many infections and help you to prevent them, being at the same time a natural analgesic. Grate a piece of ginger and squeeze it to take the juice then put a few drops directly into the affected ear to relieve pain and inflammation. Also you can mix 1 teaspoon of grated ginger with 2 tablespoon of olive oil, leave the composition to infuse for a couple of hours then pour a few drops in the affected ear.
4. Hot and cold compresses
Often, the simplest solutions are the most effective. You can apply a towel soaked in hot water and apply it on the affected ear or you can put some ice cubes in a towel and apply it over the ear (see in which situation you react better).
5. Mint
You can use either peppermint oil or fresh mint leaves to relieve the earache. Crush some mint leaves and put their juice into a pipette. Then, put 2 or 3 drops in the painful ear. Or you can soak a cotton ball in the peppermint oil and dab the outside ear, taking care that it does not reach the ear canal.
6. Garlic
You already know that it’s used because of its analgesic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, it’s one of the most effective natural medicines. To get rid of earache with garlic, heat 1 teaspoon of crushed garlic with 2 teaspoon of sesame oil, and when the mixture is cooled, filter and pour 2-3 drops of it in the sick ear.
Natural remedies for earache are very effective and it will get you rid of the pain quickly. If the symptoms don’t disappear in a few days you should see a doctor.
