The allergy caused by poison ivy is body’s reaction when it gets in contact with this poisonous plant. The leaves, fruits, root and stem of this plant contain a substance harmful to the body, called toxicodendron. This oil is also present in poisonous oak. In other words, direct contact with these plants causes an allergic reaction manifested by a severe rash, blisters just like dermatitis.

Natural remedies to get rid of poison ivy allergy
1. Extract the gel from an Aloe Vera leaf, and apply it on the affected area. You need 2 applications daily, in the morning and evening, until the rash disappears.
2. Prepare a mixture of crushed garlic cloves with mustard oil, and apply the preparation on the affected area. Use this remedy in the evening and let it act for 15 minutes then rinse gently with cold water.
3. Prepare a mixture from 1 cup of apple cider vinegar with 1 tablespoon of salt. Soak a cotton pad in this solution and apply it on the affected areas. Let it act for half an hour and rinse with water. Repeat this procedure 3 times a day until the rash disappears.
4. Boil 3 tablespoons of oatmeal in 2 cups of water. Strain the liquid and apply it on the affected areas. It’s recommended to take oatmeal baths to get rid of poison ivy rash.
