Grandma’s Natural Remedies To Get Rid Of Painful Sunburns

Prevention is the best method to get rid of sunburn, but if you couldn’t prevent it, and you got yourself with some unexpected blisters and burns, there are several natural remedies to diminish the unpleasant effects and poignancy of sunburn.

An essential item you have to take with you at the beach or carry in purse in the summer is the SPF cream. In addition, make sure you don’t forget your hat or sunglasses.

But long time ago, when our grandparents were working daily on the field, there weren’t any SPF cream or other sun protection creams. Anyhow grandma was using different remedies to get rid of sunburn which turn to be very effective even nowadays.

Vinegar. You can use vinegar directly spayed on the affected areas by sunburn, or soak a towel in vinegar and apply it on the area. Also, you can make a bath with warm water, where you can add 2-3 cups of vinegar. You can use apple cider vinegar, but the most effective is rose petals vinegar and lavender vinegar.

Milk or yogurt. Milk compresses are very effective. Also, a soothing bath with lukewarm water in which you added 3-4 liters of milk is an excellent remedy for sunburns. However, you can apply yogurt directly on the burned area.

Baking soda. Take a 30 minutes bath in warm water and add 2 cups of baking soda. Stir it with your hand and you’ll relieve the pain produced by sunburns.

Aloe Vera. Any type of gels or creams with Aloe Vera soothes sunburned skin very quickly. Also, the gel extracted directly from the Aloe Vera plant is among the most effective remedy for sunburns.

Cucumbers. Apply cucumber slices directly on the burned skin. For a quick effect, grate cucumbers and mix them with milk, and then apply the mixture on the affected areas.

Tomatoes. A soothing solution for sunburns is obtained by mixing half a cup of fresh tomato juice with a cup and a half of buttermilk. Apply the mixture on the areas affected by sunburn.

Potatoes. Apply raw, grated potatoes directly to the skin and you’ll relieve the pain caused by the sunburn.

Eggs. Raw eggs, applied directly on the skin, do wonders for sunburns. Mix 2 eggs with 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of witch hazel leaves then apply them on your skin. You’ll instantly get rid of sunburn and its hurtful symptoms.

Mustard. Another soothing “cream” for sunburns is meal mustard without spices. It has amazing effects in buns cases.

Honey. Honey is among the most effective remedies in soothing sunburn pain and relieving its symptoms. What can I say…honey is a great remedy for any type of burns!

Clay. Prepare a paste from green clay dissolved in water. Apply the paste on the burned skin to stop inflammation and to fasten the healing process.
